Belcalis Almanzar, better known as Cardi B, is the flower that rose from concrete. The Bronx native started from the bottom as an exotic dancer and is now a record-breaking sensation. Cardi first gained popularity in the music business back in October of 2017 with her chart breaking single, Bodak Yellow. The single charted at number one for three consecutive weeks on Billboard’s Hot 100, earning Cardi B the title of the second female rapper to have a solo song reach number one.
Cardi B continued to make history within the music industry with the release of her debut album, Invasion of Privacy, which won her multiple record-breaking titles. Her debut album earned her the Best Rap Album of the year award at the 2019 Grammy’s, it became certified by the RIAA as 3x Platinum, which declared Cardi B the first female artist to have all her songs in an album certified gold or higher; the album also became the longest charting album on Billboards 200, making Cardi B the first female rapper to ever do so. Cardi B didn’t stop there, she released countless records that have rewarded her with the title of the first female rapper to have multiple number one songs on the Hot 100.

Another one of Cardi B’s record-breaking moments was her 2020 release of WAP, featuring Megan Thee Stallion, which became her fourth single to earn the number one spot on the charts. The single did so well that Cardi B is now the first female rapper in the United States, to break the record of having the largest opening streaming week for a song. WAP is also certified 5x Platinum by the RIAA. Cardi B’s most recent single, UP, released early February of this year, has now earned the female rapper her second number one spot on the Rolling Stone’s Hot 100.
Her latest record-breaking moment was this past week when it was announced that her debut single, Bodak Yellow, has been certified Diamond by the RIAA, making Cardi B the first female rapper to achieve this.
